The Story of Better With You

Now available in video form!

I'm the kind of person who absolutely loves to play.  I don't just mean music.  At the age of twenty-eight, you can still see me hunkering down over some Legos, building a badass spaceship.  I love video games, throwing a ball around (apologies to any IDM students who I hit with the beach ball that one time I kept trying to bounce it off my head in the grad lab), and drum circles (although unlike other drum circle enthusiasts, I regularly shower).  It's that last one that got me in this way of thinking...

Okay, I'm guessing the guy in the tie put on deodorant at some point that day.

I've lived in New York for five-plus years, and it can get a little grueling, getting up, going to work or school, spending your day with your head down until you get home.  I find that the most memorable days for me are the ones where something I encountered en route got my attention, even for a minute...a street performance, or maybe some sort of activity where I had to interact.  It didn't matter, it shook me out of my autopilot, and reminded me that play doesn't have to be something compartmentalized into weekends and evenings.  It can happen any time, like now.  LOOK BEHIND YOU!

Whoops.

Whoops.

Okay, there probably wasn't anything there, but we had fun for, like, a second, right?  That's the essence of Better With You.  Have fun for a minute.  Make a new friend.  At the very least, put a little music in your life and just see what happens.  That's what I did, and so far, it's turned out pretty well.
